David's painting 'Eight Days and Twelve Hours' [2006] has been reproduced on the cover of Michael E Morrison's book 'The Path Less Conventional' published by Athena Press. 'Twelve Songs' a solo exhibition of Drawings and Paintings by David Begley opened at The NORMAN GALLERY, WEXFORD from June 2nd - 24th.
The paintings 'Can I Land On Coals For You' and 'Carrying The Third Flower' were auctioned in aid of Wexford General Hospital on June 08. 'Annunciation' was Auctioned by James Adams Auctioneers, Dublin in Aid of The Cancer Unit at Crumlin Children's Hospital on June 18 2007.
May 2007
The painting 'Annunciation' has been selected for the 'Creation To Faith' group exhibition to be held in St Teresa's Church, Clarendon Street, Dublin opening from 20th – 27th May 2007. Featured artists in this exhibition include Patrick Pye RHA and Imogen Stuart.
February - March 2007
'Waypoints' a solo exhibition by David Begley based on his travels and studies in Spain and Germany in 2006 was presented at The Cross Gallery, Dublin during February 2007. The exhibition featured new works including 'Star Of The Sea' which was purchased by The Irish National Teachers Organisation.
'When Light Passes Through' [2006 - 07] based on drawings made in Granada was purchased by The Society of Contemporary Art Of Ireland.
October - December 2006
'Where It Began' [2005] was exhibited and sold at Mullingar Arts Centre in November. 'Hay Un Camino' and 'El Viaje' were exhibited during Opera Festival 2006 at 'Art at Wexford VEC' from October 28 - November 3rd. Begley's work 'Correspondence' was exhibited at the Hunt Museum, Limerick in October.
August 2006
David Begley was an invited-artist at The Birr Arts Festival 2006. He exhibited ten paintings from 2005 - 2006. The painting 'Document' [2006] was purchased by The Office of Public Works.
May - July 2006
In July 2006 Begley exhibited with Anthony Lyttle and Mary Canty as part of 'New Works' at Newtownbarry House Gallery, Bunclody.
David's painting 'Laocoon' [2004 -2006] was selected for the Annual RHA Exhibition Dublin and exhibited at the RHA in June.
Begley traveled in Spain from May to July 2006 visiting galleries and museums in Almeria, Nerja, Granada, Malaga, Sevilla, Madrid, Toledo and Bilbao. During this period he walked part of El Camino De Santiago De Compostella.
Begley's work 'Spolveri' was selected for 'Landscapes of The South East' at Newtownbarry House Gallery in May 2006.
BIOGRAPHY
Irish artist David Begley, born Dublin 1972, graduated from NCAD, in 1994. In 2002 he was commissioned to paint 'The Resurrection' for The Church of The Most Holy Trinity, Bunclody, County Wexford, Ireland. The commission was co-funded by The Arts Council of Ireland. During this time the artist returned to further studies in drawing, painting and film in Wales. Research for 'The Resurrection' included travel to Italy and Spain and consequently informed works from 2002 onwards.
Begley has had several solo exhibitions in Ireland and has been selected for The Royal Hibernian Academy Annual Exhibitions, Eigse Arts Festival, Portrait Ireland, Wales Drawing Biennial and is an invited artist at Birr Arts Festival 2006.
His work can be found in the public collections of AXA Insurance Ireland, The Environmental Protection Agency, The Irish National Teachers Organisation, Office Of Public Works and Wexford County Council. His next solo exhibition will be presented at Newtownbarry House Gallery, Wexford in October 2008.
