| The two stills below are taken from the film 'Sleepsoft' made by David Begley in 2003. This was the last of a series of works in film and video made whilst studying. Throughout the 27 minute narrative the motifs of cloth, egg, icon, figure, mirror appear as can be seen in many of the artist's paintings since 1996. Shot on DV in saturated sepia, the piece is a haunting tale of love and creative obsession. It was initially inspired by drawings from 'The Three Legged Race' [2002]. Many of the filmic compositions are informed by Renaissance, Baroque, Neo Classical and Pre-raphaelite paintings. 'Sleepsoft' will be presented in Ireland in October 2006. |
