David will discuss this versatile drawing and painting medium and show how to select and prepare corks for drawing, use them as erasers, and how make ink with burnt corks. Burnt corks are a wonderful drawing medium, perfect for capturing broad forms, life drawing, working plein air and can be combined with charcoal. Burnt corks also yield a warm, transparent grey ink, beautiful on its own and also compatible with oak gall, alder cone and other inks.
